Providing a range of water services across the UK including endoscopic surveys, media removal, lateral design, power washing and more, Filtec Water Services, based in Irvine, was founded to meet an ever-growing demand for professional services in the water treatment industry.
Working with a range of clients from small private treatment plants through to major water utility companies such as Scottish Hydro, the business has been growing from strength to strength and due to this the team at Filtec felt it was the perfect time to review their internal infrastructure.
At the end of February 2019, we were approached by Filtec who were looking to commission the supply of a new server which would replace their legacy system. The system currently in place was dated and with the operating system support coming to an end in January 2020, Filtec were keen to transition to Microsoft’s Office 365 platform which would allow them to move their emails to exchange online.
Having their emails hosted in Microsoft’s 365 platform, this would allow the company to reap the benefits of better security, guaranteed uptime and most importantly, resiliency in the event of a network outage at their site. In addition to this, we further recommended deploying an offsite backup solution using our preferred Barracuda appliance. This gave them an onsite appliance whilst it backed up their data to the Barracuda cloud service. This backup appliance was also implemented in line with their business continuity processes, allowing them to recover data more readily and quickly in the event of an on-site disaster.
