Award winning organisation Microtech Group is delighted to have won the contract to support and maintain existing SPIRE (Scottish Primary Care Information Resource) software within all General Medical Practices in Scotland.
Microtech, with over 30 years industry experience, has grown to become one of the largest independent IT Support and maintenance companies in Scotland. Specialising in providing support, software and products to a broad range of clients across the public and private sectors, principally in the provision of a seamless and secure service to the NHS, a valued client for more than 25 years.
The Spire programme is a collaboration between the Scottish Government and NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) that facilitates the management of information for General Medical Practices in Scotland.
The software was developed in conjunction with GP’s, Practice Managers, IT Facilitators and other key stakeholders, and as at August 2019 there are approximately 950 Practices in Scotland with SPIRE software installed.
The SPIRE system consists of two main components which provide a range of benefits to GP’s and health services;
SPIRE Central providing NSS with query authoring functionality to write extracts and reports. It also provides system management tools that enable the deployment of updates and queries to the GP Practices.
SPIRE Local is an installation that is deployed at GP surgeries. It can run queries on the data at the GP Practice and provides local information in the form of lists, graphs and reports.
The contract will run for a period of over 3 years, until all Scottish GP systems have migrated onto a new IT system.
